Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to make a £60 million move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane if he is appointed as Manchester United manager in the summer, according to the Independent on Sunday.

Current Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is expected to leave the club following another disappointing season that will end trophy-less after they were knocked out of the Europa League by Premier League rivals Liverpool on Thursday night.

Former Chelsea chief Mourinho is the favourite to take the hot seat, and wants to make the 22-year-old Spurs attacker his first signing as he is a big admirer of the England international’s scoring rate, pace and intensity.

Kane has scored an incredible 53 goals in 93 matches for the north London outfit since the beginning of the 2014/15 campaign, but title challengers Tottenham are confident he will stay at White Hart Lane and continue to work with Mauricio Pochettino as they hope to qualify for the Champions League next term.
