The agent of Matteo Darmian admits that his client may have to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window, unless his current situation changes, according to Radio CRC.

The Premier League side, who currently sit sixth in the English top-flight standings after drawing 1-1 with Stoke City last time out, could offload the out-of-favour defender in the New Year after failing to impress manager Jose Mourinho so far this term.

The 26-year-old, who has 26 international caps for his country and featured for Italy at this summer’s European Championships in France, has made just one appearance in all competitions for the Red Devils so far this season – playing the full 90 minutes in their opening Europa League loss to Feyenoord.

Darmian, who was brought to Old Trafford by former boss Louis van Gaal back in July 2015 following his £12.7m switch from Italian outfit Torino, scored one goal in 39 games in all competitions for United during his debut campaign at the club.

The right-back’s agent, Fausto Pari, told Radio CRC, “He’s playing little or nothing and it’s a shame because he’s an Italy international.

“If the situation doesn’t change by January, we’ll have to think of something. He risks also losing his place in the national team.

“We’ve got to see what United want to do. Italian clubs have tried [to sign him], but United closed the door immediately.”
