Manchester United host rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday (4pm kick-off) looking to record a seventh consecutive Premier League victory.

Jose Mourinho’s men beat Reading 4-0 in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend, before comfortably seeing off Hull 2-0 in the first league of their League Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

And, on top of six league wins and a League Cup quarter-final win over West Ham, United have won their last nine games in all competitions in what is their best run of form since the Sir Alex Ferguson days.

However, they’ll have to be at their best to extend that run against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on Sunday, as the Reds are currently second and five points clear of the Red Devils in the table.

Klopp’s side have stuttered at the start of 2017 though, drawing two and losing the other of their three games, yet they’ll see no better place than Old Trafford to register their first victory of the New Year.

In what is sure to be a thrilling encounter on Sunday, Mourinho may look to make a few changes to the side that beat Hull, so here are THREE Man United players who deserve a chance against Liverpool…

Marouane Fellaini

Belgian international Marouance Fellaini came off the bench to double United’s lead in their League Cup semi-final with Hull on Tuesday and, given how well he played against Liverpool last time out, he may well start against them on Sunday.

The 29-year-old ran the show alongside Ander Herrera in their 0-0 draw at Anfield back in October and, although he has since come in for much criticism, Fellaini has clearly been backed by his manager, and looks set to have his contract extended at Old Trafford.

Liverpool have shown a vulnerability defending aerially this season, certainly at set pieces, so having Fellaini’s presence could be invaluable for United on Sunday.

Juan Mata

Juan Mata once again scored in a big game in midweek, netting the first in their semi-final first leg victory over Hull on Tuesday night.

The Spaniard has scored 13 goals and laid on ten assists in 43 games against top six opposition, and that influence places him above the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Mesut Ozil in terms of minutes per goal or assist.

Mata has arguably been one of United’s best players so far this season and, with Paul Pogba beginning finding his feet in English football once again, Liverpool could be in for a testing afternoon at the Old Trafford on Sunday.

Anthony Martial

Liverpool have struggled at times this season when oppositions have taken them on with pace, so don’t be too surprised to see Anthony Martial play a big part in proceedings on Sunday.

The French international has scored twice in his last three appearances for United, netting against Middlesbrough and Reading, and although he didn’t get a goal against Hull on Tuesday, he looked sharp and caused the Tigers backline a few problems.

Ragnar Klavan struggled against Southampton, and Dejan Lovren isn’t a great defender of pace, so Martial could well deputise in the more advanced role on Sunday to try and get at the Reds backline.
