Mourinho should give these 3 Man United players a chance against West Brom

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United will continue their quest for a top four finish in the Premier League when they host West Brom on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The Red Devils are a place and four points adrift of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in fourth, but with two games in hand over the Merseyside outfit, they will want to stay as close as possible so they can take advantage of those extra matches later on in the season.

And victory over Tony Pulis’ Baggies on Saturday will help them do just that.

Mourinho’s men haven’t lost in the league since October 23, when they went down 4-0 at champions-elect Chelsea, and have since then won ten and drawn eight of their 18 league games to get back in amongst the top four battle.

However, it won’t be easy against a West Brom side that comfortably swept aside Arsenal 3-1 just before the international break, and are on course for their highest ever Premier League points tally.

Nonetheless, United will go in as favourites against the Baggies on Saturday, although Mourinho may have to make a few changes to his side following recent injuries.

Thus, here are THREE Man United players who deserve a chance at Old Trafford on Saturday…

Marcos Rojo

Phil Jones and Chris Smalling were both injured on England duty last week, significantly reducing Mourinho’s defensive options at United.

But one man he could call upon is the resurgent Marcos Rojo, who has been in fine form for the Red Devils this term, starting 14 of their 27 Premier League matches (which isn’t bad considering he didn’t feature for United in the league prior to their 4-0 loss at Chelsea in October).

The 27-year-old has already featured in more league games this season than he did last time out to underline his importance to this United side, and he will once again be called upon against West Brom on Saturday.

Daley Blind

Daley Blind’s versatility will give Mourinho a little bit of respite after a testing few weeks, which could see as many as seven first team players miss out against the Baggies on Saturday.

But being able to call upon the Dutch international will certainly help him decide upon his line-up, given that Blind could play in the centre of defence or at left-back, as well as in the centre of midfield.

With Ander Herrera suspended and Paul Pogba still nursing a hamstring issue, a midfield role looks more likely for the 27-year-old, who looks set to receive his 16th Premier League start of the campaign at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Wayne Rooney

England captain Wayne Rooney missed the international break through injury, but could return for United against West Brom on Saturday.

And the 31-year-old may have to go straight back into the side given Mourinho’s depleted options in the midfield.

Michael Carrick is fit, but injuries to Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba, as well as Ander Herrera’s suspension, leaves the former England international as the only other option, but Rooney could sit alongside the 35-year-old against the Baggies.

Rooney hasn’t started in the Premier League since their 2-0 victory at West Brom back in December, but could make his return to the starting line-up against Tony Pulis’ side on Saturday.
