“My dream is to play for Man United” player sends Mourinho stark message

On-loan Man United goalkeeper, Joel Pereira has made it clear that he intends to make his way up the ranks at Old Trafford and break into the first team.

Speaking to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo the shot-stopper, who is out on loan at Belenenses, said:

“My dream is to play for Manchester United, I want to go back, of course.

“I appreciate the opportunity at Belenenses and to play, learn and evolve as much as possible. I intend to go step by step.”

There is certainly a long way to go for the Portuguese, who is yet to make an appearance for the first team, with both Sergio Romero and the immovable David de Gea above him in the pecking order.

The 20-year-old has won two U21 Premier League titles with Man United before moving out on loan to Belenenses, where he has made three appearances – keeping one clean sheet.

Mourinho’s second choice keeper, Romero, is reportedly coming under fire for his international performances, which means he may consider a move away in the near future to secure more regular first team football, thus handing Pereira a chance of an appearance.
