Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to secure his first win aa Chelsea manager when the Blues travel to face London rivals West Ham United on Sunday.
The Argentine witnessed his side dominate Liverpool in their Premier League season opener on Sunday, but they were ultimately held to a 1-1 draw by the Reds.
Moises Caicedo, who completed a British record £115 million switch from Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday, could make his debut against the Hammers.
Having signed Caicedo, Chelsea are now hoping to complete deals for both Romeo Lavia and Michael Olise and, if successful, those two signings would take the club’s spending to over £900 million in the past year.
Several players have also departed Stamford Bridge, though, and it appears that another could soon be on his way out.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United could rival Crystal Palace for the signing of youngster Lewis Hall.
Hall could be sent out on loan for the remainder of the current season
The 18-year-old is a product of Chelsea’s fruitful academy and made his senior debut for the club during an FA Cup win over Chesterfield in 2022, providing an assist as the Premier League side ran out 5-1 winners.
He went on to make a further 11 appearances last season, including nine in the Premier League, and was largely impressive when given the opportunity.
Hall will face stiff competition for the starting spot on the left of defence this season, though, with both Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella vying for the position.
Romano claims that the Magpies are interested in signing Hall and that the left-back, who often played in midfield for the club’s youth sides, could be allowed to leave on loan.
The Eagles had previously been touted as Hall’s most likely destination, but Romano claims that the proposed move to Selhurst Park is now ‘on stand-by’.
Hall’s versatility will undoubtedly appeal to both Newcastle and Palace, with the Englishman able to play in a number of roles including left-back, central midfield, centre-back and on the left flank.
