Newcastle United reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign QPR striker Charlie Austin on Deadline Day.

The Magpies, along with a host of Premier League clubs, were interested in bringing the R’s hitman back to the top flight throughout the summer.

However, the London side wanted £10 million plus Toon starlet Rolando Aarons – a deal the North East outfit were unwilling to do.

The 19-year-old is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in the country and, if it wasn’t for injury, would’ve added to his two goals in eight senior games to date.
