Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard.

New Magpies head coach Steve McClaren signed the 22-year-old midfielder on loan for Derby County towards the end of last season, where he went onto score two goals in 15 appearances for the Rams.

Lingard, who has seven England Under-21 international caps, made his first-team debut for the Red Devils against Swansea City last August, but he has failed to make a follow up appearance for United ever since.

Following the arrival of Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven this summer, it is thought that Lingard had fallen down manager Louis van Gaal’s pecking order even further, alerting Championship outfit Bristol City to his availability.
