Newcastle fans react to promotion

Last night’s 4-1 win over Preston North End saw Newcastle United achieve promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. 

While it was one of the least surprising promotions in Championship history – the Magpies were heavy favourites to go up and have a wage bill other team’s in the division can only dream of- it still wasn’t a foregone conclusion for Rafa Benitez’s side and there were times when it looked as though they could be making hard work of it.

Despite only picking up one win in their past four games thanks to the gap they already had over third place, last night’s win saw the Magpies back in the top tier of English football.

It could be an especially good season for Newcastle fans as Middlesbrough and Sunderland both face relegation from the Premier League leaving the Magpies the sole North East club the top flight.
