Newcastle United reportedly remain keen on their pursuit of Marseille ace Florian Thauvin.
It is thought that the Ligue 1 outfit knocked back the Premier League side’s latest offer of £12m late last month, but head coach Steve McClaren has not given up on one of the club’s long-term targets.
Thauvin, 22, scored five goals and assisted seven in 38 appearances in all competitions for Marseille last season.
Having already lost Andre Ayew, Andre-Pierre Gignac and Dimitri Payet this summer, the French are reluctant to lose another one of their Velodrome stars this campaign, meaning the Magpies would most likely have to pay over the odds to stand any chance of capturing their man.
