The Geordies went into their final game of the season at home to Spurs, knowing that relegation was confirmed – this though bought their best performance of the season, romping to a shock 5-1 win.
Sissoko possibly had his best performance in a Newcastle shirt that afternoon – and by taking the role of captaincy, he led by example as Rafa Benitez’s side bowed out in style, leading us to think it was a season of ‘what if’s’ for the Magpies.
