Newcastle United have been reportedly linked with a January move for Championship defender Tom Lees.
The Premier League outfit, who currently sit 17th in the table following Saturday’s 1-0 win at fellow strugglers AFC Bournemouth, were knocked out by Lees’ Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup, with the centre-half receiving many plaudits for his solid display at St James’ Park earlier this campaign.
The 24-year-old, who arrived at Hillsborough from Leeds United for just £350,000 only last summer, has established himself as one of the Championship’s top rated defenders having scored twice in 16 league games this season for the Owls.
Lees, a former England Under-21 international, is thought to be valued at around £7m by Sheffield Wednesday, although Premier League rivals Aston Villa, Norwich City and Sunderland are also said to be interested in his services.
