It is on their travels that their troubles continue, and while Wijnaldum has failed to score on the road for the Toon, he is continuing to shine in his performances at St James’ Park.
In the 3-3 draw with United, the Dutchman pulled his side back into the game with a goal, before he assisted and scored in the 2-1 win against the Hammers.
Steve McClaren knows that he needs the 25-year-old to maintain those types of performances in the remaining 15 matches.
