Nice are keen to bring Andrew Cherdieu back to France.
According to a report in the Daily Mail the Stoke defender is in demand just a year after moving to England from Racing Club.
Cherdieu has still to make his top team debut but has impressed for Stoke’s u-18 side and when called up to the u-23 squad.
With Mark Hughes expecting to be operating on limited funds this summer the 18-year-old could get his top team chance quicker than expected.
Stoke have taken a step back from their big spending days with Hughes hoping to develop through some of the players impressing at the club academy.
Cherdieu was signed with that intention in mind and could find his development accelerated as Stoke take a back seat from the summer spending frenzy.
The 18-year-old has played in central defence this season but can also operate equally well playing as a defensive midfielder.
