Wayne Rooney has priced himself out of an emotional homecoming to Everton.
According to a report in the Daily Star the Manchester United striker’s wage demands are way above what Everton are prepared to pay.
Rooney still has two years left on his Old Trafford contract but with a basic wage in the region of £250,000/week United are prepared to wave any transfer fee which should help finance the players terms.
Despite the player stating that Everton are the only English team that he would leave United for Everton boss Ronald Koeman hasn’t shown any enthusiasm for a deal.
Koeman isn’t convinced that the 31-year-old would fit into his side’s style of play and that a massive difference in wages may upset the dressing room. No one at Everton is currently on £100,000/week with Rooney expecting double that sum.
The former England skipper will have to decide between a move to China or the USA with staying on at Old Trafford on the edges of Jose Mourinho’s side an unlikely option.
