West Ham are braced for another ten days of high farce in the Dimitri Payet saga.

Leaked extensively throughout the French media it has been claimed that Marseille have pulled out of the bidding.

After travelling to London at the start of the week it seemed that Marseille were keen to get a deal done and dusted.

It seems that the French side wouldn’t go beyond £25m while West Ham have demanded £30m for a player that they signed for £11m in the summer of 2015.

Claims that Marseille were no longer interested were treated with a pinch of salt by West Ham who expect to hear from the French side and Payet’s agent during the coming week.

Some sort of deal in the region of £27m is likely to be brokered with terms that will allow both clubs to save face as they sell it to supporters with West Ham well aware that the player is toxic in the eyes of their fans.
