Nottingham Forest fans react to new owner

After months of waiting Nottingham Forest fans finally have a new owner in Greek shipping magante Evangelos Marinakis after his takeover was passed by the English Football League according to the latest reports.

Forest fans can breathe a sigh of relief, albeit one laced with trepidation as the new owner pledges to move the club forward after a period of uncertainty, stagnation and money woes, not too mention disappointing results and performances on the field although some decent home form of late helped the club avoid relegation to football’s third tier, by the smallest of margins.

Staying in the Championship may just be the lifeline the club needs and give them the base for the new owner to build on, although it’s obvious without some investment in players during the summer then the two time European Cup winners are going to face an uphill struggle to avoid another relegation dog fight next season.

Whether Marinakis can deliver on his promises remains to be seen but after a torrid time under the previous stewardship of Fawaz Al Hasawi many fans are now looking forward to a much brighter future.

Here’s how they’ve been reacting on social media:

Nottingham Forest have been bought by Evangelos Marinakis.

He has denied accusations of match-fixing in Greece.

The statement from Mr Marinakis on the clubs website is music to my ears. Nothing like the feeling I got from Al-Hasawi. #nffc
