Nottingham Forest sack Dougie Freedman; former Derby player takes charge

Nottingham Forest have announced that they have sacked manager Dougie Freedman after the club lost five of their last six matches.

The latest of those losses was a 3-0 home defeat by Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, which proved to be the final straw for the Championship outfit’s board, with the Scot told that his contract had been terminated on Sunday.

Despite working under a transfer embargo this season, Freedman and his side embarked on a 13-match unbeaten run prior to recent downturn in form, and he leaves with a win percentage of just over 33%.

First team coach Paul Williams will take charge until the end of the season, with Forest 14th in the standings, nine points above the relegation zone and 14 points from the play-offs.

His first match in charge will be a tough looking trip to high-flying Hull City on Tuesday night, before they face arch-rivals Derby County at the iPro Stadium next Saturday.
