Steve McClaren hasn’t completely closed the door in terms of signing more players, despite admitting that he is content with his current squad. Some may say that, if anything, The Magpies could do with a new centre-back, particularly after Mike Williamson was made available for transfer recently. They’ve been linked with Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour, who has 33 caps for Tunisia to his name, however it could be argued that after some excellent defending at Old Trafford on the weekend, and keeping a clean sheet, a centre-half isn’t as much of a priority for McClaren as initially thought.
