Oscar agrees Shanghai SIPG move

Chelsea have confirmed that their Brazilian midfielder, Oscar, will join Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG in January, with the clubs having agreed terms.

In a club statement, the Blues announced that the 25-year-old will bring his four-and-a-half year association with the west London club when he joins former manager Andre Villas-Boas in the CSL at the “beginning of the January transfer window.”

The Brazil international is expected to have cost his new club in the region of £60m, whilst he will be earning a whopping £400,000-a-week.

The Premier League winner is the second Chelsea midfielder to make the move east this year, with his compatriot Ramires making a £25m move to Jiangsu Suning in January.

Furthermore, former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle struck a lucrative deal with Shandong Luneng over the summer, which saw him become one of the best players in the world.

Oscar’s move will further compound the concerns of the detrimental effect that the money on offer in China could have on the Premier League.
