Out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is reportedly a target for Everton, according to the Times.

Despite Toffees Ronald Koeman closing in on a £25 million for Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie, it is believed that he still wants to bring another attacking midfielder to the club in addition to the Democratic Republic of Congo international, and is lining up a move for the 28-year-old, whose future at Old Trafford appears uncertain.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho sold the Spaniard to United during his second spell in charge of former club Chelsea, and a further strain was placed on the relationship between the two in the Community Shield against Leicester on Sunday when Mata came on as a substitute, and then was taken off again later in the match.

Mata has made 105 appearances in all competitions for the club since joining them from the Blues for £37.1 million in January 2014, scoring 26 goals.
