Crystal Palace have reportedly joined the race to sign Hull City centre-back James Chester.

The 26-year-old is keen to depart the KC Stadium after suffering relegation to the Championship on the final day of the 2014-15 season.

Aston Villa, West Brom and Newcastle United have all been linked with the Wales international and now the Eagles have swooped in looking to seal a deal.

Alan Pardew has already wrapped up the signings of Yohan Cabaye, Alex McCarthy and striker Patrick Bamford but is keen to now bolster his defence.

However, the Tigers are not willing to let their man depart for less than £8m, which may see this story drag on through the duration of the window.
