Palace opt out of Sakho race

Crystal Palace are unlikely to pursue their interest in Mamadou Sakho.

According to a report in The Standard Palace chief Steve Parish believes that the overall package for the defender would be outwith their means.

Sakho joined Palace on loan from Liverpool in January with his introduction to the team coinciding with the team going on a winning run to escape from relegation.

The influence of the defender has alerted other clubs to his availability with Liverpool slapping a £30m price tag on the Frenchman who is expecting a salary of £100,000/week.

Despite Liverpool’s defensive problems there is no way back for Sakho at Liverpool following a close season fall out with Jurgen Klopp.

Palace did spent £30m on Christian Benteke a year ago but it seems likely that a more restrained transfer policy will be followed this summer.

Sakho is expected to be fully fit for pre-season training despite suffering a knee injury away to Spurs which brought his season to a halt.
