Manchester City continued their impressive form with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola’s side’s sixth win on the bounce in all competitions sees them sit second in the Premier League table, one point behind leaders Chelsea after 14 matches.

Jack Grealish stole the headlines pre-match due to his first return to Villa Park since his British record £100million transfer in the summer.

However, the former Villan found himself on the bench with a fellow midfield magician stealing the show against Steven Gerrard’s team.

Bernardo Silva notched the winner with a sumptuous fifth Premier League goal of the season to accompany an overall impressive display.

Following the victory, his manager, Pep Guardiola was full of praise for the Portuguese.

“He is the best,” the City boss told reporters.

“He was the best two or three seasons ago. He was the best then too. He has a special ability to do whatever he wants with the ball. Against a good goalkeeper it was an incredible finish.”

Despite Pep rotating his superstar squad each match, Bernardo has started in 13 of 14 Premier League and all five Champions League matches this season.

The 27-year-old is aiming to win a fourth Premier League crown this season since his transfer from Monaco in 2017.
