Pochettino must give these 3 Tottenham players a chance against Gillingham

Tottenham enter the EFL Cup in the third round on Wednesday when they host League One side Gillingham at White Hart Lane.

With a busy calendar ahead for the North London side, the EFL Cup offers manager Mauricio Pochettino the perfect opportunity to see what his whole squad can do.

Spurs go into the game off the back of a 1-0 win at home to Sunderland, and with the Premier League and the Champions League to consider over the next week-or-so, we can expect changes from the former Southampton boss.

Injuries picked up by Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele in the league clash with Sunderland on Sunday mean that there will be changes, meaning that a whole raft of players could be given the nod on Wednesday night.

With that in mind, here are THREE players that we here at Shoot! reckon should get their chance against the Gills…

Kevin Trippier

The former Burnley man has only made 19 appearances for Spurs since arriving last summer, and considering he is in the shadow of England’s first choice right-back, he will find it hard to add to that.

A fixture against a League One side, as well as being a potential banana skin, offers a manager the chance to give fringe players a run out under less pressure, and Trippier will grab any chance to impress with both hands.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou

The former Marseille winger is yet to make an appearance for Pochettino’s side since his move from Ligue 1, and will be raring to get going at his new club.

He has joined a side packed of attacking talent and will take any chance he is offered to push himself into the first team plans at White Hart Lane.

Michel Vorm

The former Swansea shot-stopper deputised for the injured Hugo Lloris when he sustained an injury earlier in the season, and impressed when doing so.

With the French No.1 back in between the sticks, game time will be hard to come by for the Dutch international, and he will want to prove, once again, that he is ready and waiting for his call up.
