Chelsea and Tottenham look as if they good go the distance in the Premier League title race this season, however, things may not be as close when it comes to the transfer window this coming summer.
Both sides will be looking to bolster their sides over the summer months as Spurs look to improve once again and their London rivals prepare for the return of European competition to their calendar.
Both have been linked with a move for wantaway Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, who has become frustrated at the Bernabeu with the lack of chances under Zinedine Zidane.
However, the Premier League leaders were handed a boost when Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino distanced himself form any deal regarding the Spaniard.
Speaking of the Spain international, the former Southampton and Espanyol boss said:
“I know Morata from when I started my career at Espanyol.
“The reality was that he sent a text to me when I was manager at Espanyol.
“He contacted me – it is possible to give advice and then we kept our relationship, a good relationship.
“He’s a great kid and a very good player but it’s not realistic that situation – thinking Morata [is] for us.”
The Argentine’s comments will be a huge boost to his Stamford Bridge counterpart, Antonio Conte, as he prepares for the potential loss of star man Diego Costa this summer.
