A number of English clubs are interested in signing free agent Joey Barton.
Following the 32-year-old’s collapsed move to West Ham United earlier this week, fellow Premier League outfits Newcastle United and Watford, plus Championship sides Derby County and Nottingham Forest, have been strongly linked with the former Queens Park Rangers midfielder.
Barton, who earned one international cap for England, scored once in 28 appearances in all competitions for Chris Ramsey’s side last season as QPR suffered relegation from the top flight.
It also thought that two French clubs are interested in Barton, including former club Marseille, after his transfer to the Boleyn Ground was called off following Hammers fans airing their displeasure at their next potential signing.
