Manchester City will hope to cut Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League table when they face Newcastle United on Saturday evening.

The Gunners missed the opportunity to open up a seven-point advantage at the top of the table on Wednesday, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by 20th-placed Wolves at Molineux.

Mikel Arteta’s side therefore sit five points clear of the Citizens, although City have a game in hand over their title rivals and will cut that advantage to just two points if they beat the Magpies on Saturday.

In the meantime, it has emerged that one member of City’s squad is attracting interest from other clubs in the Premier League.

As per Sports Boom, both West Ham United and Aston Villa are interested in City goalkeeper James Trafford.

The 23-year-old joined Manchester City from Burnley last summer, having helped the Clarets to achieve promotion from the Championship.

Trafford had previously joined Burnley from City, but the Manchester giants moved quickly to re-sign the Englishman ahead of the current campaign.

Shortly after, though, City also signed Gianluigi Donnarumma, who quickly established himself as the club’s first choice ‘keeper.

Trafford had started City’s first three Premier League matches of the season, but hasn’t featured in the competition since Donnarumma’s arrival at The Etihad.

The report suggests that West Ham will challenge Villa for the player’s signature if he is allowed to leave City this summer.

Villa may be leading the race to land the player, the report claims, due to uncertainty surrounding West Ham’s Premier League status as Nuno Esperito Santo’s side currently sit in the relegation zone.

So far this season, Trafford has kept five clean sheets in 11 games across all competitions, with seven of his appearances having been in the domestic cup competitions.
