Jesse Lingard has reportedly decided to call time on his 22-year spell with Manchester United after being frustrated by his treatment at the club.

The midfielder was an unused substitute during the Red Devils’ win over Brentford on Monday, while Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Phil Jones and Edinson Cavani were all given the chance to bid farewell to the Old Trafford crowd.

All five players are expected to depart Manchester this summer, but Lingard has been left infuriated by the way United have treated him and is now focussed on leaving the club at the earliest opportunity.

According to The Mail, the England international has admirers in Italy and Spain, as well as in the Premier League.

Newcastle United are named as the English side who have an interest in the 29-year-old, having failed to sign him in January.

The Magpies were close to agreeing a loan deal to land Lingard in the mid-season transfer window, but the agreement fell through after Man United insisted on including a £12.5 million bonus payable if Newcastle secured top flight survival.

Lingard has started just four games in all competitions this season

Lingard has 32 goals in 232 appearances for United across all competitions, but spent a successful six-month loan spell with West Ham United last season that propelled him back into the England set up.

The midfielder narrowly missed out on Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2020 last year, but is now determined to secure regular football to increase his chances of going to the World Cup later this year.

The player, who has started just two league games this season, has admirers in Italy with both AC Milan and Juventus interested.

The two Serie A sides have already registered an interest in the Englishman, while French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be considering a move.
