Manchester City travel to the south coast to face 20th-placed Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Citizens have endured a difficult campaign so far but a recent improvement in form has seen Pep Guardiola’s side force their way into the reckoning for Champions League qualification.

City will be overwhelming favourites to beat Saints at St. Mary’s on Saturday, which would put them in a commanding position to finish in the top five this term.

Off the pitch, it appears that City are interested in a Premier League star who could be keen on the idea of a move to The Etihad.

As per Football Insider, Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is flattered by interest from the Citizens and would be open to the move.

City are set to be in the market for a creative midfielder this summer with Kevin De Bruyne set to depart the club, and 25-year-old Gibbs-White fits the profile of player that Guardiola will want.

The England international joined Forest from Wolves in 2022 and has since played 115 times for his current side across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 27 assists.

This season he has scored five goals and provided nine assists in the Premier League, helping Nuno Esperito Santo’s side to challenge for Champions League qualification.

Gibbs-White is under contract with Forest until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but the report suggests that failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League could open the door for the player to depart The City Ground this summer.

It is also claimed that the opportunity to play under Guardiola would appeal to Gibbs-White, who could pursue a potential move to the Etihad if the opportunity arises.
