Watford striker Odion Ighalo has reportedly emerged as a £12m target for La Liga side Atletico Madrid in January.

The newly promoted Premier League side, who suffered a last-gasp 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Monday, face a task of keeping hold of their Nigeria international in the New Year following his impressive form in the English top-flight this term.

The 26-year-old, who joined the Hornets from Italian outfit Udinese last October on a permanent basis, has scored a sensational 14 league goals in 19 games for Quique Sanchez Flores’ men this season.

It is understood that Atletico have already watched Ighalo five times in action for Watford this campaign, who are keen to offload £25m flop Jackson Martinez following his summer move from FC Porto.
