Preview: Sunderland vs Swansea

Two teams that have had contrasting starts to the season meet at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Sunderland are already the subject of crisis reports after an abject first two games, with Dick Advocaat summoning his under-performing team to a meeting the day after last weekend’s heavy 3-1 home defeat to newly-promoted Norwich.

Youngster Duncan Watmore was Sunderland’s one bright spot last weekend and is pushing for a start after netting his first Black Cats goal against the Canaries.

Wes Brown may be back in action after an injury as Sunderland look to shore up a defence that has leaked seven goals in the opening two games.

By contrast, Swansea have picked up four points from their opening fixtures and cruised past Newcastle at the Liberty Stadium last weekend.

The Swans are almost at full strength as Ki Sung-Yueng has recovered from the hamstring injury that saw him limp off at Chelsea and the South Korea international is in line for a return.

Jefferson Montero is the in-form man for the visitors having given Branislav Ivanovic and Daryl Janmaat torrid times in the past fortnight, whilst Andre Ayew has netted in his first two Swansea outings and will hope to take advantage of a vulnerable home defence to continue his productive start to the season.
