Preview: Swansea vs Newcastle

9 August 2015 - Barclays Premier League - Newcastle United v Southampton - Georginio Wijnaldum of Newcastle United celebrates scoring a goal to make it 2-1 with Papiss Demba Cisse - Photo: Marc Atkins / Offside.

Swansea head into their first home match of the season looking to build on a superb opening day point at Chelsea, with their impressive performance unfortunately overshadowed by Jose Mourinho’s post-match antics.

Midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng is being assessed after coming off with a hamstring injury at Stamford Bridge, but manager Garry Monk has no other fresh injury concerns to deal with.

The Steve McClaren era began with Newcastle’s entertaining 2-2 draw against Southampton last weekend, and this fixture will be another stern test for the new Magpies boss.

Remy Cabella and Paul Dummett are back in training but unlikely to feature, whilst Emmanuel Riviere remains sidelined and may require an operation on a knee injury. Vurnon Anita was stretchered off last weekend but has recovered and could be set to retain his place in the midfield.

Newcastle have won just once in four visits to the Liberty Stadium in the Premier League and have scored four goals across those matches – all of them scored by Papiss Cisse.
