Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie scored an early contender for Premier League goal of the season against Leicester with a stunning volley.

Shoot take a look at the attacker who’s been thrilling Cherries supporters for the past three seasons.

Where did he start his career?

The 26-year-old started at fellow south-coast club Portsmouth. But because the Blues were going through a successful time he found it hard to break in. This saw him make loan moves to Dagenham, Notts County and Swindon?

So what happened after that?

Well, he did so well at Swindon that they signed him on a permanent deal. But after helping the Robins win League Two and impressing in League One, he made a £400,000 switch to Bournemouth.

Was his goal against Leicester a surprise?

Not really. Ritchie has been scoring goals galore since moving to Eddie Howe’s side. He scored nine in his first full season and 15 last term – not bade for a wide midfielder?

Roy Hodgson must have an eye on him?

Afraid not. Although born is Gosport, Ritchie has pledged his allegiance to Scotland, where his father is from. He only made his debut in March 2015 and has since scored once in five caps.

Why is he so dangerous?

He may not be the biggest but Ritchie has exceptionally quick feet which sees him torment full-backs. Not slow, but not the quickest, what the Scotland international does have that other a lot of wingers haven’t is a consistently good final ball and a good goalscoring record.

Super Stat: As well as scoring 15 times, Ritchie grabbed 17 assists as Bournemouth won the Championship in 2014/15.
