Real Madrid eyeing up £100 million move for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard

Spanish giants and Champions League finalists Real Madrid are eyeing up a world record bid to prize Eden Hazard away from Chelsea, according to The Sun.

The 26-year-old was a key cog in Antonio Conte’s Premier League title-winning side this term, scoring 16 goals and laying on five assists in 36 league starts to help the Blues win a fifth league crown in the last 12 years.

And although his 2015/16 campaign was far from impressive, there were times whereby the Belgian international played at the level we saw back in 2014/15, when he helped Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea win the division, and that has attracted interest from Zinedine Zidane’s Madrid.

And the La Liga champions are looking to turn their interest concrete by reportedly sizing up a £100 million bid for Hazard this summer, which will comfortably eclipse the world record transfer fee which saw Paul Pogba move to Manchester United from Juventus this time last year.

Zidane’s men have the chance to win a second successive Champions League crown when they face the Italian giants on Saturday in Cardiff, yet he clearly feels that reinforcements are needed ahead of next season to remain at the forefront of European football.

And there’s little doubt that, despite the embarrassment of riches Real have in the attacking areas, £59.5 million-rated Hazard (as per Transfermarkt) would certainly bolster them, and with conversations reportedly having already taken place over the course of the season, it remains to be seen whether Conte and Chelsea can keep their star man beyond the summer.
