Chelsea look set to have a busy transfer window this summer, with several players likely to be on the radar of other clubs.
Xabi Alonso will take charge at Stamford Bridge on July 1 after being appointed as the Blues’ manager last month, following the sacking of Liam Rosenior.
The former Bayer Leverkusen boss will have plenty of big decisions to make this summer, and several Chelsea players have already been linked with moves away from west London in recent weeks.
Now, it has emerged that one of Chelsea’s most expensive signings has been the subject of interest from one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
As per Daily Mail Sport, Spanish side Real Madrid have registered legitimate interest in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez ahead of the summer window, which officially opens on July 15.
The report claims that the La Liga outfit hold serious interest in the Argentine, who is set to represent his country at the World Cup in North America this summer.
Fernandez, 25, became the most expensive player in Premier League history when Chelsea paid more than £106 million to sign him back in 2023.
He has since built a reputation as one of the best central midfielders in Europe, making more than 165 appearances for the Blues across all competitions.
Last term, the Argentina international scored ten goals and provided four assists in 36 league games for a side that struggled, ultimately missing out on European qualification.
According to the report, Chelsea had no response when they were contacted by Real, with the London side now awaiting a formal offer for the player.
Chelsea have adopted a policy of agreeing long-term contracts with new signings since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in 2022, and Fernandez therefore has more than six years remaining on his current deal at Stamford Bridge.
