According to reports from the London Evening Standard, The FA have made Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger their top target to succeed disgraced former boss, Sam Allardyce as the next permanent England Manager.
The former Bolton, West Ham and Sunderland manager left his post on Tuesday night after an undercover sting by the Telegraph revealed he was prepared to use his position to orchestrate a £400k deal as a keynote speaker for a fake Far East investment firm, whilst also discussing how easy it is to circumvent FA rules around third-party ownership.
The FA approached Wenger after Roy Hodgson resigned his post earlier in the summer, however, the Frenchman stood firm and said he would not betray his contract with the Gunners, which ends at the end of this season.
The former Monaco boss is yet to agree an extension with the North London club and thus could be available to take the position come the end of the season.
For the time being, Gareth Southgate has been charged with the task of guiding an already troubled side through at least their next four fixtures.
It is fair to say that the news has been met with mixed reviews by those on social media…
Give Wenger the England job. What a man.

England need a manager who can make a success of not winning trophies. Arsene Wenger would be ideal.
