Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been dealt a blow to his hopes of landing a deal which has been rumbling for some time now, after one former international warned a move to Stamford Bridge would not be the best idea for the Italian’s target.
The Blues have long been linked with a move for Anderlecht midfielder Youri Tielemans, and have reportedly opened talks to engineer a move for the 19-year-old.
However, with the first team chances the Belgium international would get under Conte a doubt, one retired international has spoken out against a move to west London.
Marc Degryse, who made 170 appearances for Anderlecht scoring 66 goals – as well as netting 23 for the Red Devils, has suggested a move to a club like Everton would be much more beneficial.
The 51-year-old has made these comments before and has new reiterated his thoughts saying;
“He should go to a foreign club with a good level and with a coach who believes in him.
“But he should not directly go to an absolute top club. A club like Everton would be a good choice for him.”
The Toffees could be a beneficial option for the midfielder, rated at £17m, considering the progression his compatriot and international teammate Romelu Lukaku has experienced there.
