Romero snubs move to stay at United

Manchester United’s second choice shot-stopper, Sergio Romero, has snubbed a January move to Boca Juniors in order to stay at Old Trafford, according to the Independent.
The Argentina international, who has played second fiddle to David De Gea since he arrived in Manchester in 2015 from Sampdoria, has made just 16 first team appearances for the Red Devils.
However, the 29-year-old appears reluctant to head back to South America this month and has rejected a move to Boca, despite talks with head coach, Guillermo Barros Schelotto.
The former AZ Alkmaar ‘keeper, it seems, is happy to stay put on the bench for now, but will reassess his situation come the summer window.
As per the Independent‘s report, Romero’s Old Trafford future hangs very much on the progress made by youngster Joel Pereira, between now and the end of the campaign.
The 20-year-old is held in high regard amongst the coaching staff at Carrington and could well step into the understudy slot this summer, allowing Romero to move on.
