Rooney opens the door to Everton deal

Rooney returned to Everton for Duncan Ferguson's testimonial in 2015

Wayne Rooney has revealed that Everton are the only other Premier League club that he’d play for.

According to an interview on talkSPORT the Manchester United striker will make a decision on his future in the next couple of weeks as he prepares to leave Old Trafford.

Rooney has got offers from China and the United States to consider but clearly has an eye on a return to Merseyside 13 years after the teenager quit Goodison Park.

I’ve played for two Premier League clubs and they’re the only two Premier League clubs I’ll play for,” he told talkSPORT.

Rooney was originally detested when he returned to Everton as a Manchester United player with Toffees fans feeling betrayed by his switch of loyalties.

The resentment has died down over the years with the striker given a warm reception when he pulled on a blue shirt to play in a testimonial for Duncan Ferguson.

United are prepared to let Rooney go on a free transfer leaving the ball in Everton’s court with Ronald Koeman having the final say on whether a deal is completed or not.
