Round-up: League One

League leaders Gillingham remain unbeaten after winning 2-1 at home to Blackpool, who could not follow up from their first victory in 24 matches last week.

Doug Loft put the Gills ahead, before Ryan Jackson put the ball in his own net, with a bizarre own goal to level things up. But, nine minutes from time, Bradley Dack got his sixth of the campaign to take all three points for the Kent outfit.

Joe Riley’s excellent strike in the 83rd minute helped Bury to a 3-1 win against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. Tom Pope put the Shakers ahead, before Billy Sharp’s penalty made it 1-1. But a thunderbolt from Riley put Bury in front, before a cheeky lob from Leon Clarke rounded off the scoring.

Walsall continued their fine start to the season as a brilliant brace from Tom Bradshaw saw them overcome Doncaster 2-0 at home. Bradshaw now has five goals in nine appearances this term, after scoring twice in the final five minutes.

Barnsley’s emphatic 4-1 win at home to Swindon lifted them to 11th in the table. Lewin Nyatanga scored an own goal for the Tykes, but they were level two minutes later thanks to Marley Watkins’ smart finish. Further goals from Reece Wabara, Nyatanga, who scored at the right end of the pitch, and Conor Hourihane made it 4-1.

Peterborough thrashed Oldham 5-1 at Boundary Park in match that ultimately cost Athletic boss Darren Kelly his job. Posh debutant Lee Angol was the star of the show as he scored twice and set up Erhun Ozlumer, whilst Souleymane Coulibaly also netted a brace.

Elsewhere, Port Vale beat Wigan at home 3-2 after Uche Ikpeazu scored a stoppage time winner, Chesterfield drew 3-3 with Colchester, in which the U’s came from two goals down, while Aiden O’Brien’s hat-trick for Millwall meant that Crewe lost for the third match in a row, after a 3-1 defeat Gresty Road.

Meanwhile, there were home wins for Burton, who won 1-0 against Rochdale, Scunthorpe beat Coventry and Shrewsbury narrowly overcame Southend away by the same scoreline, and Fleetwood drew 1-1 with Bradford.
