Southampton should still complete a late Deadline Day deal for Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, according to the Press Association’s chief football writer, Simon Peach.
The Saints have been short of goals this season, a predicament which hasn’t been helped by the long-term injury to top goalscorer Charlie Austin in early November.
The EFL Cup finalists have reportedly agreed a record breaking deal to bring the Italy international, who has bagged five goals for the Serie A side this season, to the south coast on Deadline Day.
However, according to Sky Sports News HQ, who have been camped outside the Saints’ Staplewood training ground all day, there is still no sign of the striker, who is yet to complete a medical.

The fact that the deal is taking so long to complete will be made harder for manager Claude Puel considering his side are in action at Swansea this evening.
