Matthijs de Ligt’s late header rescued a point for Manchester United against Tottenham Hotspur in a thrilling encounter on Saturday.
The Red Devils had taken the lead in North London courtesy of Bryan Mbeumo, with Thomas Frank’s side once again well below par at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs struggled to create chances but found themselves level when substitute Matthys Tel found the back of the net.
The Lilywhites then looked to have stolen all three points when Richarlison netted in added time, but De Ligt’s late header from Bruno Fernandes’ corner ensured the points were shared.
Off the pitch, it appears that one of Europe’s biggest clubs are reigniting their interest in a Man United star.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via CaughtOffside, Serie A champions Napoli are revisiting their push to sign United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
The Italian side failed to lure the Englishman to Naples over the summer, and the report claims that they therefore now view a deal as one of their priorities.
Mainoo, 20, was keen to depart Old Trafford on loan prior to the start of the season in a bid to play more regularly, but his departure was blocked.
Having graduated from United’s youth system and enjoyed an impressive rise to become a regular for both the club and England, Mainoo has fallen somewhat out of favour since the arrival of Amorim last year.
In total he has made 80 career appearances for Manchester United, but he has featured just eight times so far this term under Amorim and is yet to start a Premier League game.
According to the report, Napoli are pushing ahead with talks over a move to sign the midfielder on loan in January.
Napoli’s desire to add a midfielder to their squad comes with Kevin de Bruyne set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, while Frank Anguissa is also set to miss a period due to his participation in there Africa Cup of Nations.
