AC Milan are reportedly stepping up their interest in Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window, according to the Daily Express.

The Premier League side, who defeated defending league champions Leicester City 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to climb up to fifth in the standings after back-to-back victories, could be tempted to offload the central midfielder after falling down the pecking order this term.

The 29-year-old, who has 117 international caps for his country and featured for Spain at this year’s European Championships in France, has scored two goals and provided two assists in six appearances in all competitions for the Blues so far this season.

Fabregas, who is now playing second fiddle to fellow midfielder N’Golo Kante, who was brought to Stamford Bridge from Leicester this summer, was reportedly scouted by Milan officials over the weekend.

However, the Spaniard missed the Premier League clash due to injury, meaning he has now not featured under new manager Antonio Conte since September 24, when Chelsea lost 3-0 to his former club Arsenal.
