Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly made an offer of £250,000 to Newcastle United for defender Mike Williamson.
The Championship side, who currently sit two points outside the play-offs in seventh spot, are hopeful of beating rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers to the signing of the Premier League centre-half this month.
The 32-year-old, who arrived at St James’ Park back in January 2010 from Portsmouth, seemingly impressed during his five-game loan spell with Wolves late last year.
Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal wants to bring Williamson to Hillsborough this month after learning first choice centre-halves Tom Lees and Michael Turner are resigned to the treatment room for the foreseeable future after suffering injuries.
