Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly plotting a move for Celtic forward Anthony Stokes.

The 26-year-old has been told by the Scottish Premiership champions that he is free to leave this summer following the signing of Dundee United striker Nadir Ciftci.

Stokes, who arrived at Celtic Park back in 2010 from Hibernian, scored eight goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for Ronny Deila’s side last season.

However; the former Sunderland striker is deemed surplus to requirements at the club following the £1.5m arrival of Turkish hitman Ciftci, alerting the Owls among a handful of other English sides, including Hull City, Leeds United, Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic.
