Sheffield Wednesday have been told they will have to stump up a club-record fee if they want to sign Scotland international striker Ross McCormack this summer, according to the Mirror.

The Championship outfit, who finished sixth in the English second-tier before losing to Hull City in the play-off final back in May, have already seen an £11.5m offer rejected by Fulham for their star forward.

The 29-year-old, who has 13 international caps for his country, scored an impressive 23 goals and provided 11 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Cottagers last season.

McCormack, who cost Fulham a reported £11m back in July 2014 from fellow Championship side Leeds United, is wanted by Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal to help push the club towards promotion to the Premier League next term.

However the report suggests that Fulham have told Sheffield Wednesday they will need to improve their offer to a club-record £15m, a figure that easily surpasses the club’s current record of £5.7m for Paolo Di Canio (Celtic) back in 1977.
