One win in seven league games doesn’t make pretty reading for Southampton fans and according to manager Claude Puel, his side are angry at the recent run of results and ready to rectify it.
Despite making the EFL Cup final, Saints have struggled of late and are now sitting just seven points clear of the relegation zone meaning this weekend’s clash away at Sunderland could prove vital to either side’s league campaign.
It’s not a good time to be facing Sunderland who have finally started showing some promise under David Moyes, picking up a useful point at home to Spurs, before hammering fellow strugglers Crystal Palace 4-0 at Selhurst Park.
Former Nice and Lyon manager, Puel, says he’s seen an anger and determination in his side during this week that could serve them well as they look to get back on track.
Puel told Sky Sports: “I saw all of this week a good level. For the first time in a long time, we had a whole week to prepare for the game.
“The squad is angry with the last results. We have to correct this and give a good answer.
