Southampton: One player the Saints should sign before the transfer window shuts

Hiljemark is an all-action midfield player.

Now they’ve secured what will probably prove to be the bargain of the window in striker Charlie Austin, Southampton will most likely sit back with their feet up for the rest of the transfer window. 

However, now Gaston Ramirez has moved on loan to Middlesbrough, they may just be looking at adding another creative midfielder to their squad before Monday night.

One player who has been mentioned in the same sentence as Saints is Swedish playmaker Oscar Hiljemark, who currently plays for Palermo.

The 23-year-old captained guided his country’s U-21s to European Championship glory last summer and has seven caps for the senior side.

Hiljemark, who has four goals and three assists this season, only joined the Serie A club last summer but is thought to be available for just £2.2m.
