Southampton are reportedly closely monitoring Ivory Coast star Jean Michaël Seri.

The Premier League outfit, who currently sit seventh in the standings after defeating Sunderland 1-0 last weekend, have sent scouts out this season to watch the Nice midfielder in action.

The 24-year-old, who made his international debut against Morocco only last week, has scored one and assisted three goals in 14 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit this season.

Seri, who only joined the south-coast club from Portuguese side Pacos Ferreira earlier this summer, is a defensive midfielder by trade having left FC Porto back in 2013.
